Acceptable Use Policy

Version 1.0 — Effective 2025-01-01

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of CTF-Hub and any services, features, or content made available through the platform. By registering an account you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this policy. Violation of this AUP may result in immediate account suspension or termination.

1. Eligibility & Account Registration

  • •You must be at least 13 years of age (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to create an account. Users under 18 require parental or guardian consent.
  • •You must provide accurate and truthful information during registration. Creating accounts with false identities, or impersonating another person or entity, is strictly prohibited.
  • •Each person may hold only one account per organization (tenant). Multiple accounts for the same individual are not permitted unless explicitly authorized by an administrator.
  • •You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Any activity conducted under your account is your responsibility.

2. Permitted Use

CTF-Hub is designed for legitimate cybersecurity education, training, and competition. You may use the platform to:

  • •Participate in Capture The Flag (CTF) events and challenges organized through the platform.
  • •Access educational cybersecurity content, workshops, and learning materials.
  • •Collaborate with team members on authorized challenges within the platform's boundaries.
  • •Administer events, create challenges, and manage participants in your assigned role.
  • •Use the platform's API and integration features within the documented limits of your subscription plan.

3. Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are strictly prohibited:

  • •Unauthorized Access: Attempting to access systems, accounts, data, or infrastructure that you are not explicitly authorized to access — including the CTF-Hub platform itself.
  • •Scope Violations: Conducting hacking activities, vulnerability scans, or penetration testing against any target outside of explicitly designated challenge environments.
  • •Malicious Code: Uploading, distributing, or executing malware, ransomware, spyware, viruses, or any other harmful software.
  • •Denial of Service: Launching or participating in denial-of-service (DoS/DDoS) attacks against the platform or any third party.
  • •Flag Sharing & Cheating: Sharing challenge flags, solutions, or exploits outside of sanctioned team collaboration, using automated solvers, or any form of cheating that undermines the integrity of a competition.
  • •Harassment & Abuse: Harassing, threatening, intimidating, or discriminating against other users, administrators, or staff on the basis of any protected characteristic.
  • •Illegal Content: Storing, transmitting, or facilitating access to content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
  • •Reverse Engineering the Platform: Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract the source code or trade secrets of CTF-Hub.
  • •Spam & Unsolicited Communications: Sending unsolicited bulk messages, phishing emails, or any form of spam through the platform.
  • •Account Sharing: Sharing account credentials with, or allowing access to, unauthorized individuals.
  • •Sanctions Violations: Using the platform in any country, region, or by any person subject to applicable trade sanctions or export control laws.

4. Security Research & Responsible Disclosure

CTF-Hub supports and encourages ethical security research. If you discover a security vulnerability in the CTF-Hub platform itself:

  • •Report it promptly and privately to support@ctf-hub.io before any public disclosure.
  • •Do not exploit the vulnerability or access data beyond what is minimally necessary to verify its existence.
  • •Give us a reasonable time to investigate and remediate before publishing.
  • •Good-faith researchers acting within this scope will not be subject to legal action by CTF-Hub.

All hacking activities must remain strictly within challenge sandboxes. Attacks against the CTF-Hub infrastructure or any third-party system are a violation of this AUP and may be a criminal offence.

5. Content & Data Responsibilities

  • •You retain ownership of content you upload but grant CTF-Hub a licence to host and display that content for the purposes of providing the service.
  • •You are responsible for ensuring that any content you submit — including challenge files, writeups, or team materials — does not violate the intellectual property rights of others.
  • •CTF-Hub may remove any content that violates this AUP without prior notice.
  • •Do not upload personal data of third parties without a lawful basis under applicable privacy law.

6. Privacy & Data Processing

By using CTF-Hub you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in our Privacy Policy. Key points:

  • •We collect registration information, usage data, and technical identifiers (e.g., IP address) to operate and secure the platform.
  • •Your acceptance of this AUP, including the timestamp and your IP address, is recorded for legal and compliance purposes.
  • •We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
  • •You have the right to request access to, rectification, or erasure of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.

7. Enforcement & Consequences

Violations of this AUP may result in, at CTF-Hub's sole discretion:

  • •Immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account and access to the platform.
  • •Removal of content, challenge submissions, and scores.
  • •Notification of your employer, educational institution, or event organizer.
  • •Referral to law enforcement or other regulatory authorities where the conduct may constitute a criminal offence.
  • •Civil or criminal legal action to recover damages or enforce these terms.

CTF-Hub reserves the right to investigate suspected violations and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies as required by applicable law.

8. Changes to This Policy

CTF-Hub may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify registered users by email and/or by a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. The version number and effective date at the top of this page indicate the current revision.

9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Acceptable Use Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which CTF-Hub operates. Any disputes arising from or in connection with this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction. Nothing in this clause limits CTF-Hub's right to seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
